Can't get any ISO file to work

Postby jbid » 09 May 2012 02:10

I'm sure this is a stupid problem and I'm just missing something, but I can't get any .ISO file to work. If I open the ISO and extract the video files, then VLC will play them just fine, but VLC won't play the ISO itself. Am I missing something, like a plugin that I need to play ISOs? Any help would be much appreciated!

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Here it is:
main debug: adding item `WS2009GAME1.ISO' ( file:///C:/Users/John/WS2009GAME1.ISO )
qt4 debug: Adding a new MRL to recent ones: file:///C:/Users/John/WS2009GAME1.ISO
main debug: rebuilding array of current - root Playlist
main debug: Creating an input for 'WS2009GAME1.ISO'
main debug: rebuild done - 1 items, index -1
main debug: processing request item: WS2009GAME1.ISO, node: null, skip: 0
main debug: resyncing on WS2009GAME1.ISO
main debug: WS2009GAME1.ISO is at 0
main debug: starting playback of the new playlist item
main debug: creating new input thread
main debug: Creating an input for 'WS2009GAME1.ISO'
main debug: using timeshift granularity of 50 MiB, in path 'C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp'
main debug: `file:///C:/Users/John/WS2009GAME1.ISO' gives access `file' demux `' path `/C:/Users/John/WS2009GAME1.ISO'
main debug: creating demux: access='file' demux='' location='/C:/Users/John/WS2009GAME1.ISO' file='C:\Users\John\WS2009GAME1.ISO'
main debug: looking for access_demux module: 3 candidates
qt4 debug: IM: Setting an input
main debug: no fetch required for (null) (art currently (null))
After dragging and dropping the ISO file (or opening it via Open File) VLC doesn't do anything past that; it acts like there's no file to play. I should have mentioned before that my VLC version is 2.0.1, the newest one from the Videolan front page. Thanks for the help!

As requested, please post the full resulting log.
And are you sure this ISO is a DVD image ? VLC can't play BD images for now.
