Bad video

Postby q-type » 09 May 2012 02:21

Hi!
It seems to me I have a similar (not the same) problem while trying to play different videofiles with VLC player:
1. The playback of the same files before was correct;
2. Using other players gives the fine video;
3. While starting VLC window takes the shape and size of real picture according to the size of video;
4. Codec information, audio and snapshot are normal too.

But the real image on the screen of VLC player looks like... Scottish kilt!

Chère Hôtesse (!), same problem here with a laptop Medion 1.8 GHz, 2 Gb RAM, running WinXP SP3.

VLC 1.11 has always rendered fine any video format, including .wmv and .mov. But many problems with VLC 2.0, video is either jerky, or freezes, or gets "scottish kilt".

Concern is, I tried all fixes suggested in the link you provide above, to no avail. Videos play either as bad, or worse. I did not try to update DirectX or the video drivers, I feel much too shy to destroy my system.

So I shall revert to VLC 1.11, I know it worked before. Too bad, but I wanted you to know.

Selecting DirectX will not destroy your system.

The problem is solved.
Thank you all!
Special thanks to Lotesdelere! Changing video output module helped me.
It was my first appearance here.
VLC is the best!
Still dreaming about VLC for Symbian...
