VLC2.0 Stutter when bob(or yadif2) deinterlace

Postby kashiko » 20 Apr 2012 03:47

Hi,

I recently upgraded to VLC 2.0. I have found that if I use the Bob de-interlacing mode (or Yadif2 as it uses bob or something bob-like) I get video stuttering. The stutter is very regular (~1s interval) and I have not noticed it under any other playback modes. I did not have this problem in VLC 1.0.

I checked the message log on debug mode (mode 2), and have messages like the following spit out every few seconds:

main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 23 ms)
main debug: picture might be displayed late (missing 0 ms)
main debug: picture might be displayed late (missing 1 ms)

These messages do not happen on other de-interlacing modes.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know a remedy?

Thanks :).

P.S. Should I be reporting this as a bug somewhere?

Any BOB deinterlacer is doubling the framerate, so yes it is very very CPU demanding, especially Yadif 2x.
You can try to decrease the video window resolution and/or use GPU acceleration.

I have the same problem.
I understand that the mentioned de-interlacing modes are very CPU-Intensive.
But when I use them with VLC versions older than v2.0 I don't get video stuttering.
