VLC 2.0.1 SPDIF no audio

Postby hellspam » 24 Mar 2012 02:48

Hi,
I just downloaded the latest VLC version and unfortunatly the audio for all my MKVs that use the AC3 codec have play no audio.
These videos worked just fine in the previous version.
I've included the log I get when trying to play a video:

Your AV receiver shows no audio when you playback with 2.0.1?

no SPDIF output.
Win7 32
No devices shown to choose from on directX output in Easy mode.
Can choose devices in expert mode but no efect - plays on default speakers.
Worked well in V 1.xx.

the 2.0.1 version got screwed up...you cant choose audio output device at all no matter if you use advanced or easy it reverts back to primary audio device

I have the same problem myself.

I changed the spdif connection to be my primary sound device (windows 7) And now vlc plays everything through my reciever (rather than the built in speakers).
I hope they resolve it, i kinda liked vlc using the reciever and all other application such as explorer which cant be configured using the laptop speakers.

*You need to edit the advanced prefs in VLC (show all) and choose directx and primary sound device.

Same problem... win 7 x64
There were two devices in the windows>sounds>playback devices that were listed as high definition devices and it looked like sound was coming from the non default one... so i disabled the one it was coming out of (now i cant find it either) and i got sound but now i dont have ANY surround sound out of anything windows or vlc

Yeah no luck for me either... I've resorted to using XBMC for now.
BTW I get no audio at all from any video using VLC 2.0.1 no matter what output device I select.

Same issue for me - SPDIF on motherboard to A/V receiver. Works ok if I change the default playback device in Windows to something like my USB headset speakers.

VLC 1.x works fine as does XBMC, games, etc.

Audio issues should be fixed in next VLC release.

When will this issue be fixed? It's been quite a long time already.

2.0.2 release is way behind the original schedule, so I don't know when the release is happening.
