Blu ray and d3d output window

Postby gdsean » 07 Apr 2012 00:01

I did some google searches and forum searches but couldn't find anyone having a similar problem.

Just got VLC to open Blu Ray discs after a little fun with the libaacs.dll stuff. Fired up The Matrix and sat back to enjoy the show. My only problem is that when I open the disc and play it, VLC opens up a separate windows for the video. Not a separate instance of VLC just a pop out window. All the controls are on the main program window behind it. Also the main interface seems to be playing a different part of the disc while the main movie is playing on the front one. It seemed to be running the special features in the background. My problem with this is I cannot go full screen with the main movie and any subtitles I enable show up on the main interface in the background. Video and sound are perfect but the interface issue is strange. Running VLC 2.0.1 portable (I'm not installing 2.0 fully on this machine. I'll find a different blu ray player if that's the only solution) on Windows 7 64-bit on an E6550 Core 2 Duo with 4gb of ram if any of that is relevant.

Couldn't test on 28 Days Later because of BD+ decoding bullstuff.

Same thing happened with V for Vendetta but the d3d output window this time had the extras and the main interface had the movie. This at least allowed me to full screen the main movie.
Terminator 2 was the same as V for Vendetta. 2 windows but the main interface had the actual track that was playing (you can tell by the audio) and full screen worked.

Didn't happen on Spiderman 3

Couldn't test on Batman - Gotham Knight because it kept crashing whenever I tried to choose a track.

Ran out of Blu Rays to test since I've just started switching over.

You have to go to Video -> Video track -> Disable, then Video -> Video track and only enable the one you want to watch.

Sorry for the late reply. Was out of town. This worked so I'm happy but wish there was a way to avoid having to do it in the future.

There is a feature request for that.
