2.0.1 bad video

I installed 2.0.1 and found that on some movies there were 4 vertical lines in the middle of the screen and a yellow line at the bottom of the screen, and colours were wrong.

I uninstalled, down loaded 2.0.1 again, re-tested it and had same issues.

I went back to V1, and all is fine. I will use the old version for now.

Hi Jean,

I have the same problem and I tried using the version 2.0.2 you mentioned above. But the problem's still there.
For me the vertical lines appear only for .avi files, wierd !!

Your post shows exactly what I am talking about. I watched a 2 hour football game with those yellow lines in the middle of the screen and it drove me nuts. And, correct, only on avi files. I hope Jean-Baptiste can find a fix

I uninstalled V1, and installed V2.0.0 as per above quote. Results are again a vertical yellow stripe in the middle of the screen. On a another file the stripe was green. Here's another weird thing.......when I took a picture...the stripe does not appear, it's like a ghost, it will not show up when a picture is taken. Also, the audio was a little garbled. Sorry I can not be of more help, I don't know how to use IRC.

That is normal. Snapshot is taken from memory, and it is the video output module that messes up the colors.

Deany - The above solution seems to have fixed the problem for me. I have unchecked the 'Accelerated Video Output' option under Tools -> Preferences -> Video, but that didn't fix it. Then I changed the Output module to - Direct X (i use Windows Xp) and saved the settings. Changing the ouput format to Direct X fixed the issue for me (for now).

I'll report back if I see any other issues. Thanks to all, this blog helped me. I didn't have to go back to older version.

Hello,

I got a similar problem (it is fixed if I select as output device DirectX) in my Windows XP laptop (just today downloaded 2.0.1).

I downloaded a Youtube video via Keepvid.com (MPEG-4 format, high resolution), and the result in the playback was this:

As you can see, some colors are shifted in some way
(see the yellow 'ghost' frame of the cab at the left?).
The car should look orange, instead it looks pink(!)

I suspect that VLC selects Direct3D instead of DirectX(?) or something like that.

Here is the log, I did a 'full screen' command, then I jumped to the end of the video.

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:

1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
2. Set Verbosity to 2
3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [​code]and[​/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)

Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.
