Hello:
I downloaded VLC 2.0.0 so I could replace my Windows Media Player 11.
I mainly listen to the WMA streams of two classical radio stations, WETA (classical music) and VivaLaVoce (classical vocal music).
Here is the URL for the VivaLaVoce streaming page: http://www.weta.org/fm/listenlive/vivalavoce
The URL for the WETA WMA stream itself is: mms://stream.weta.org/winstream
Here is the URL for the WETA streaming page: http://www.weta.org/fm/listenlive
The URL for the VivaLaVoce WMA stream itself is: mms://stream.weta.org/viva
VLC cannot open either of these WMA streams.
Does anyone know why?
There is also a WETA Mp3 stream, but I cannot give you the URL because this fourum only allows a max of 4 URLs per post.
VLC plays that Mp3 stream perfectly (so that also confirms that this is a VLC problem and not a problem with my computer).
I also downloaded an .ASX file of the playlist from the WETA site, to see if VLC would open it.
I associated the ASX file type with VLC, but VLC could not open it.
I have a custom computer that I built, with an Gigabyte X58-UD5 motherboard, 24GB RAM, WXP Pro (with all updates), 100GB C: Drive and 12 2TB SATA drives and an OMEGA Claro Halo XT sound card.
My computer works beautifully, since Windows Media Player can open all 3 of those streams.
There is a WETA FAQ, and it has some general info about the streams, but there is no troubleshooting FAQ itself.
I have e-mailed both stations, in the hope that they might have some insight into this problem.
Can anyone here help.
I see some other people have posted similar issues before me.
No one here was able to help them, so they just re-associated their streams and ASX files with Windows Media Player.
However, they all had VLC v1.x.x.
I am hoping that now there is v2.0.0, someone here can solve this conundrum.
Thanks in advance.
