IP camera

Hi I am new to VLC and streaming.

I have a IP camera that works fine with a browser as http://192.168.2.140:8888/view/index.shtml
but I cannot get VLC to play this in network/media what am I doing wrong? (if I just enter 192.168.2.140:8888 in the browser it fills in the rest)
I was able to get it to work with rtsp://192.168.2.140:554/mpeg4/media.amp but I want to use with http
I have some other cheepo cameras that only have the IP address in the browser windows and I cannot connect to those either with VLC (no RTSP on these)

I don"t think you can.
the http url is a web interface. vlc cannot use it.
