VLC 112 + dreambox7000 : no audio on stream

i have instal vlc 1.1.2 for streaming the .avi ( xvid ; divx ; mp3 ) on my pc ( vista 32bits ; 2go ddr 6400 ; dual core 2GHZ ; ATI xpress 1250 ; dx9c ) to my dreambox 7000 IMG sifteam 194C on local Lan 100 mb

on my pc audio/ video = ok but on my dreambox no audio but video ok

still no audio on the latest 1.1.3 version either.
the last working version is 1.0.5

no one seems to know the answer to what has changed when streaming to a dreambox,so we can fix this issue.Ian.

I've got the same problem with my Dreambox7020 and the VLC-frontend 1-8-0

Operating System on my PC is Windows-XP Professional with ServicePack3 and on the Dreambox the Powerboard-Enigma-V3

using the VLC-player 0.86 as backend on my PC - the vlc-player is started as a windows-service on my PC - video and audio is fine on my TV via the VLC-frontend on my Dreambox, except new MP4 oder XVID-files. when I'm watching them, the video is stuttering.

using the VLC-player 1.14 as backend on my PC - the vlc-player is running as a windows-service again - the video is absolutely fine and fluent but there is no audio. watching the same video-file with the vlc-player on the PC everything is ok.

I didn't change the settings in the config-file of the vlc-frontend on my Dreambox. so, what is going wrong with the new vlc-version, when you're using them as backend on you Windows-PC.

Hello. Got a dbox 7200s here, same problem.
I pinpointed the version where the problem started, its actually 1.0.5 -> 1.1.0
From the release notes:

Changes between 1.0.5 and 1.1.0: -------------------------------- Important changes for users: * On Linux, known bugs in the ALSA library might prevent audio output. Update to alsa-lib v1.0.23-2-g8d80d5f or later, or use the libpulse audio output plugin instead of the ALSA one (if you have PulseAudio).

As far as I know, the alsa library is not used on Dreambox. Still, the issue might be related.

I got the same problem with the latest vlc and a dreambox 7000.
For now I use an older vlc player till this is solved

If you want solve this problem, then you must change mpgv to mp2v. Boys of VLC told me, that it is not possible, that all works well, but it is not truth. Last working version for Win32 is 1.0.5.

All WIN versions of VLC after 1.05 with parameter mpgv making mux into .ts as audio mpeg ver. 3, but it seems, it is not compatible with Dreamboxes (but Dreamboxes know play type 3 well too). Under Linux it was repaired in VLC 113, under Win never (boys told - must works, it is not system diferently ... but when is there in VLC code used #ifndef WIN32 ... ??? )

For Dreamboxes and streaming is last working version 1.0.5, because next versions have bug with "soveral" too and does not display subtitles.

It seems, into next versions are added next and next bugs in features which was OK and nobody solving it... latest ver. 1.1.15 has all this bugs too.
I thought, if is added bug in VLC, then is priority for developers solve it. Unfortunatelly, it is not true ...

this has still not been resolved with the latest version of vlc 1.17

it doesnt look like the authors of this player can be bothered to fix this issue!!
we with dreamboxes are now restricted to using versions not later than 1.0.5,this is not fair and not the way forward for an open source plugin.

we have waited nearly a year for this fix,so it appears they are never going to address this for dreambox users.
this used to be the best player around,but if they cannot be bothered to resolve this when so many are asking them too,what does it say about the future of this player?

I have seen this problem as well - reported by users of my streaming-application for Android and in particular with Enigma1-images.

They resolved nicely this problem by flashing their dreambox-images to SifTeam or Pli. Try it and see if it resovles your audio-problems.

im already using sifteam 1.9.4 mate,ive been using it for over two years.so this doesnt fix the no audio problem.but thanks anyway.
this is a problem with the vlc player,that started in versions after 1.0.5.Ian.

VLC --> Preferences

Check "All" to view all the parameters

select:
Stream output --> Sout Stream --> Transcode

find "Audio encoder" and select "Libtwolame audio encoder"

The solution was for the combination: DreamBox 7020 with gemini, Macbook pro and VLC 1.1.10
but it should work with other combinations, tried it with ubuntu (parallels Mac) and it worked fine

Thanks man this worked for me too on dm 500s and vlc 1.1.9, before i was getting no sound and dreambox was restarting after 1 minute of playing the stream.
