Timeshift - not working

Postby cmatte » 21 Feb 2012 18:34

Hi, I'd like to understand how timeshift should be set to make it work on VLC.
I need to timeshift a live http/s stream and I can't seem to do it. I can register it. I even tried to open registration and don't use registering vlc but one of the two just stops playing/recording. I see timeshift there in the options, the wiki says it's now in the core, but it's not used at all: timeshift folder is always empty. This is with vlc 2.0.0.
How do we -really- use this function?
Can it be due to this problem ?
Thanks!

Why just not pausing it?

Pause is there and the request of pausing is accepted by VLC and seems to work but just till the buffer is full because the streaming I am talking about comes from live TV so it's not pauseable, almost not remotely. The same box does timeshifting but, well, at the tv :)
I want to achieve the same exact result, which is afaik just timeshift functionality...
