This is possible if the certificate are revoked
Is there anyway to find a new cfg file?

I also have VLC 2.0 and i have:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\libaacs.dll
- C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\aacsKEYDB.cfg
And when I open VLC and Ctrl+D opening a BluRay disc it gives the error:

Blu-Ray error:
Your system AACS decoding library does not work. Missing keys?
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///E:/'. Check the log for details.

And when I go to explorer and right click on the bluray and chose: "Play with VLC media player"
I just get the error:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///E:\'. Check the log for details.

So what do I do wrong??

I have used the Process Monitor tools by SysInternals and it shows that VLC reads file "C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\aacs\KEYDB.cfg", so libaacs.dll works and keys in the right place too, but... I have the same error as above.

Are there any ways to check it for sure?

WinDVD plays my Blu-ray disks without problems.

Can you please write a bit more details about it? Should I pass some params to vlc.exe (i.e. -vvv as shown above)? I am not good at all these certificate issues, but I want to resolve this somehow...

Also I tried to start playback with Messages window and it showed me the following info:

main debug: adding item `(null)' ( bluray:///E:/ )

I'm a novice here when it comes to VLC. Where do I put the BD_DEBUG_MASK=255 vlc.exe -vvv line at?

@ anyone having a problem with this issue and vlc 2.0:
Place the keys database in appdata/roaming/aacs
then be sure you are opening the disc correctly!!
go to media>open DISC>under "disc selection" make sure you hit the blu ray button
and under "disc device" select the correct drive!!
then hit play at the bottom.
This worked for me. Hope it helps someone.

Did all of that, still having the same error. It is version 2.0 and their first real try at Blu-Ray; I am confident they will overcome this.

I'm having problems too. I noticed the .dll file was for Windows 32-bit. Is the issue that I'm running Windows 64-bit?

so it sounds like my drive's had its certificate revoked

i have a samsung SH-B123L

i have emailed samsung concerning this issue and asked them when a new certificate will be provided.
i almost managed to keep my cool while typing up the email; i just bought a blu-ray drive that can only do DVDs.

if they respond with anything halfway helpful or useful, i'll post here again. i feel as though my optimism is misplaced, however.

Lots of people including me copied the cfg file to the appdata aaac directory (as someone said, under roaming). We also copied the .dll to what we believe is the 'vlc' directory - no one explained what that meant, but I assume it means under program files videolan vlc. Then we get this message

Blu-Ray error:
Your system AACS decoding library does not work. Missing keys?
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///D:/'. Check the log for details.

Clearly we either did something wrong, or the directions were wrong, or there is something else we need to do. Now I've been working on computers for about 40 years, but one of the first things I learned is to be clear and specific in giving instructions, and to never be vague or incomplete. So maybe someone who did get it to work (under Windows, recent MAC, other UNIX, etc.) could please tell us what they did to make it work.

VLC is a neat program. What it can do is amazing. It is also one of the most confusing, hardest to setup and use programs I've seen in these 40 years. Much of that is due to people speaking in what amounts to near gibberish - aka GEEK, instead of a common language such as English.

"you need to do command lines". That sounds like you have to wave your magic wand a certain way and repeat the correct incantation. Mind you, it would be real nice if you said what command line is required and why. And if you know what the error messages mean or what causes them, that would be real nice to know also. Thanks!

i downloaded the keys file and library dll or whatever it is. i opened the messages window and get this:

libbluray info: First play: 0, Top menu: 0
HDMV Titles: 0, BD-J Titles: 0, Other: 0
libbluray error: cannot select bd title '0'
libbluray error: Could not set the title 0
main error: open of `bluray:///G:/' failed

so i may have some setting or the aacs file thing is not in the right place.

This is obviously a common problem for all of us, is there a VLC rep. on here to clarify the issue?
