random parts of playlist

Hello there

Can anyone help me with scripting a function that plays for instance 10 seconds of the movies on the playlist at a random position?
I am new to this, so please explain the possible methods in simple terms.

I too would like this functionality however I've found no scripts or info online that helps me. I'm a noob as well obviously. Any help is greatly appreciated!

i'd love this too.. surprised it hasnt been made yet. i know vlc is powerful enough and this is a simple enough task.. someones gotta be around! i'll throw $5 in the chip in to have this made!
