2.0 rc1 blu-ray playback issue

Postby bdawg923 » 14 Feb 2012 04:00

Hi,

I tried playing Transformers 3 blu-ray with the new 2.0 rc1 and I got this error "This Blu-Ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it."

Anyone else encounter this? Is there a fix?

Google it :)
Perhaps you didn't do that yourself Jean, because this page is the first response on google. So, instead - is there a real answer?

You need to prepare libaacs.dll and its setting.
Use forum search. It will tell you how to setup.

Hmm. Well that solved the issue of not being able to load the disc at all. Now, however, it will load my bluray disc, but then spend 5minutes displaying the FBI warning in a ton of different languages... then just do nothing. No menus. No playback. Nada. Any attempt to navigate the disc with buttons just causes it to reset and start displaying the warning again.

Blu-ray menu is not supported on the current version, but a patch has already been submitted to vlc-devel mailing list, so it will be supported on the feature version. I don't know when it comes.
ATM, Blu-ray Disc support is *experimental*.

Ah. I didn't know it was still experimental. I thought with the release it would be ready. I've been waiting very eagerly for vlc blu-ray. Currently, I'm forced to deal with a copy of PowerDVD ugh.

sigh. I guess I just have to wait a little longer.

Could someone please say in plain english, in more then one or two words, how they got past the missing keys problem? Many of us have loaded the libaacs and keydb.cfg files in the places noted and still get the missing keys error. And the only response is to point us back to the same place with poor instructions that we've already looked at to no avail.

Hey guys! You got what you paid for: FREE!!!

Like most of you, I'm a total nerd with computers. When I looked at the instructions, it was like trying to read Chinese. Total gobbledegook.
If the developers know of this problem, I'm sure they will fix it.

My workaround solution is to get a Bluray ripper software and when I converted it to MKV format, then I was able to play it with VLC with no problems.
