On one film VLC reports: No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "Divx". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

Fourcc issue in that file. The fourcc should be either DIVX or divx, not Divx (it is case sensitive). You can use hex editor to fix the file (replace all Divx with divx)
