We agree, that is why there is an option.First, thank you for not forcing us to use Lion's full screen mode. It is such a bad way to implement full screen, it's pointless (and is completely broken if you have two or more screens). I'd have to stop using VLC if that was the only way to go to full screen mode.
Yes, this is not possible for 2.0, but we will reintroduce something for a minor version of VLC 2.0.xI used to play the video on a 2nd screen and used the controller window in my main screen to control it. This is no longer possible with 2.0. Can you put the separate controller back in as an option? Even just a mini-controller with the progress bar to position the video, play/pause/ffw/rev and maybe skip ahead/back 30 seconds buttons.
Actually, if there was a way to hide the playlist/sidebar area and just display the titlebar and controls on the bottom of the window that would work fine.
Looking at the interface, there is show/hide playlist button, but it's disabled if you play the video in a separate window.
I don't see why it is annoying to you. If you don't like the playlist, don't use it...I don't particularly like the new media list window. It just doesn't really work with the way I use VLC. I could live with it if the separate controller came back (or the minimize playlist button always worked).
In black mode?If you play the video in a separate window, it'd be nice to have the disappearing title bar like Quicktime X does.
That would be great.Yes, this is not possible for 2.0, but we will reintroduce something for a minor version of VLC 2.0.x
It doesn't really annoy me, but I was just commenting that it isn't my cup of tea. If it can be hidden with a future release, then there's no problem (I did occasionally use the media list on 0.x and 1.x, but the media list in 2.0 is larger and not yet hideable).I don't see why it is annoying to you. If you don't like the playlist, don't use it...
Oh you want collapsable blue bar? Or something else? That would be great.Yes, this is not possible for 2.0, but we will reintroduce something for a minor version of VLC 2.0.x

either mode really. Even with all the flaws in Quicktime X, I do like the disappearing title bar.
Thanks again for the best video player for Mac!
I'd even go so far as to suggest the non-lion mode should be the default instead of the way it is now. Seems that would reduce some complaints about fullscreen issues. We agree, that is why there is an option.First, thank you for not forcing us to use Lion's full screen mode. I agree with the OP. Although I'm sure it's a nice feature for some people, I will never use the library/computer/network/internet. It would be nice if that column collapsable and the box resizable. I'm used to having vlc open almost all the time and I really liked how it wouldn't take up much screen space if I didn't want it to.I don't see why it is annoying to you. We will do that... People really don't understand their own OS...I'd even go so far as to suggest the non-lion mode should be the default instead of the way it is now. Just long click on the buttons.I agree the new interface should be able to become more terse... but the one change that has been driving me nuts is the replacing the function of the ">>" and "<<" buttons with the action attributed to the ">>|" and "|<<" buttons... either bring both sets back {this would be ideal}, or change the player to send the "jump time" versus "jump tracks" like it used to... We often have a little sound happen and want to jump back a moment to re-hear something in the program, and it's kind of cumbersome to find the command-option-arrow on the keyboard instead of a quick couple clicks on the button we've spent years using.
That would be great if I wanted to skip back a full minute or two, but since I can set the short jumps to a couple of seconds (only slightly shorter than the default anyway), it'd be easier if it had the choice to switch the meaning back to the original usage of that button, or to label it's new function accordingly. We need more granularity than that, and used to have it with the old interface, thus we wish the function to not have been relegated to only the keystrokes option. And before you ask, you can't get that sort of granularity by dragging the slider bar on a 2.5hr movie either... if you expand the window to the full size of your screen, the slider bar is quite long, and still does not achieve this, and if you use fullscreen, the slider bar is much shorter (about half your screen width) and you have even less resolution for the slider bar.Just long click on the buttons.
