force 5.1 or 7.1 with VLC

Postby xchopstickzx » 11 Jan 2012 20:11

hi guys,

I am running VLC on my computer and is connected to my HDTV and 7.1 audio receiver.Whenever i play a movie on my computer that is 5.1 or 7.1 all the speakers works fine. But when a file is encoded stereo only the 2 front speakers are working.

Is it possible to force VLC to output 5.1 and 7.1 even if the file is encoded stereo? so i can hear the sound on all speakers. Is there a settings somewhere?

Thank you guys in advance!

I am having same issue. You can change manually. Right click after selecting movie. Audio, Audio 5.1. Would like to have 7.1 as default.
