How to play files with missing PCR?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

How to play files with missing PCR?

Postby dagfaune » 09 Jan 2012 23:18

I recorded video from a USB topbox DVB-T called Jacobsons which the files unfortunately ends up without PCR information.

The files should be compatibel with the VLC player, but I don't know the settings.
The files are named *.ts but when i try to playback the file at VLC player it fails (nothing happends and no information).

I have also heard that the files are a kind of program stream-files and the TS-doctor tell me that the PCR is missing. I don't know more.

If it's not playable I hope it's possible to "repair" or convert the file into ordinary ts, or somthing else.

Thanks :D !

No. VLC cannot play broken MPEG-TS streams.

The files is't broken, are 100% playable on the Jacobson top box !

The challenge is to let them play on a VLC-player.

PCR is not optional in MPEG-TS. The files are broken.

Ok, in fact they are broken because they are not ordinary ts-files. May be we could call them *.jac files (for Jacobsons) ;-)

The Jacobsons top-box produce this files and can do playback, and they give the name *.ts.
The problem is that they are not 100% ts-files, and I have been told it's a kind of ps-files.
And the time code is missing... That's all I know.

May be they are encrypted....
