VLC can't play HD 1080p from Nikon

Hello,

When saving video files from a Nikon coolpix 100 on the hard dsk of a PC (Win XP).
VLC cannot play files (.MOV) when the Nikon camera preference is set for video on HD 1080p (1920X1080) which is the default choice.Only the audio is played, the image is frozen.

VLC can only play the file (.MOV) when the Nikon camera preference for video is downgraded at a lower resolution on VGA (640 X480).

Is HD 1080p not compatible with VLC ?
