Unable to use left mouse button in VLC [Version: 1.1.11]

Postby Lehto » 30 Nov 2011 23:04

Hi,

After starting a movie in VLC I am unable to click with left mouse button, e.g. move to specific point in the movie, adjust volume etc. Right mouse button works fine, e.g. jump to a specific time, open preferences (however not able to use left mouse button in the preferences.).

From googling, this seems to be related to graphics drivers, which I have reinstalled, upgraded, at the moment running NVIDIA's beta drivers: 290.36 (Have tried with official drivers, previous beta drivers and upgraded today to latest beta).

Running on Windows 7 64bit with NVIDA GTX560 (had same issue with before upgrading GFX from GTX260, so not card related, might be Nvidia related but no ATI card to test)

Have also cleared VLC's %Appdata, reinstalled VLC after resetting/deleting all the settings.

Rebooted the computer.

Other video playback applications works fine (WMP, GOMPlayer, RealPlayer etc.)

Any ideas what else to try?

Edit: No Wacom board or similar attached to the computer.
Edit2:See log from trying to jump in a movie.
Edit3: Uninstalled MS Intellipoint/type drivers for mouse/keyboard so mouse and keyboard now running on default drivers.

I face the same question. I set the method : libvlc_video_set_key_input=false. When playing video, mouse will lose on the video. Windows 7 +VLC1.1.11.

How do you set that?

Cheers!

Does the left mouse button work with Skins2 interface?

Newbie question, what is the Skins2 interface? (At work at the moment (where VLC works fine), so will have to test in a few hours when I get home).

Edit: Google'd and found how to use skins :)

Yes, tried a few skins and then everything is working.

I'm happy using a skin (at least I can use my favorite player :) ), however this issue may still be worth looking into :)

Edit2: Downside with skins seems to be that it is not maximizing where the VLC window currently reside but always maximizes onto the main display (which is my gaming display) and also I still can't click in preferences (however now I can at least watch movies now.

That (mouse button not working) is most likely some sort of Qt4 bug which we really can't fix. (same kind of issue as the Wacom devices have)

Skins2 interface will be somewhat better in upcoming VLC 1.2.0
