Severe Sub bass limiter?

Severe Sub bass limiter?

When I play a movie or music in VLC, the volume severely drops when there is subbass. It sounds like a limiter. When I play the same movie or music in quicktime it doesn't happen. Does VLC have a bass limiter? If so is there a way to disable it?

There is an equalizer, but it's not enabled by default.
