Setup buffer in vlc

So when i play giant, 10gb, 720p movie and download smth on same hdd via torrent i see such lags:

any way to setup buffer so player will load next, well, 10min of video in RAM and play it from there?

VLC has file cache option. But usually that only matters with DVD, network etc. inputs or with lossless encoded video. You can change the value Tools -> Preferences (set Show Settings to All) and Input / Codecs -> Access Modules -> File and Caching value in MS value to for example to 5000 or to 20000. Remember to press Save to save VLC settings and restart VLC after that to make sure changes are enabled.
