videolan pauses/locks up on one system only

Postby shadowspawn » 28 Jan 2004 18:46

First, awesome program. It works great on every computer I have, i recommend it strongly.

I checked out this thread: viewtopic.php?p=873#873 but it's not what's happening to me, rather I tried switching audio, etc.

The symptoms are: just sometimes it stops playing, some movies. Divx, Xvid, etc. No lag, it just stops. When I close the video window, the playbar window won't close, I have to end task.

This is a dual proc system, so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it.

http://www.shadowspawn.net/temp/dxdiag.txt is my dxdiag showing my drivers, etc.

This app works great on an identical system (just one proc, and using a voodoo3 for TV-Out) but it's not -that- identical, it doesn't use nv drivers so I'm not sure what it is.

It's always done this, just today it happened 4 times during one movie (and seek isn't that great, sometimes I have to watch a few minutes before the last time showed on the lockup) so I'd figure I'd post.

-edit-
it's always done this, all versions. didn't try the latest. gonna test .7 now, my fault sorry.
/edit

It's not really an issue, I just preview movies on my box before others, and on every other OS/Machine it works perfectly.

Any ideas?

Yeah, you should really try 0.7.0 because a bug that looks like this one was fixed in this version (bug related to the clock handling which happened on some dual cpu systems as well as other weird systems).

well it still does it.

not lockups, but hard pauses. dunno why, but i'm happy with it on other computers.

does it no matter what codec, source, etc.
