Subtitles Not Displaying

Postby Piyono » 26 Sep 2011 18:14

In a strange turn of events, VLC has suddenly altogether stopped displaying .SRT subtitles. I don't often use subs so I can't say for sure how long this has been going on, but I discovered it a few hours ago. To my knowledge I have not subjected my machine to any procedures that would affect this behaviour.

Before posting this I took the following steps:

• Uninstalled VLC and removed all related folders > Downloaded latest stable build > Reinstalled
• Double-checked subtitle prefs
• Rebuilt font cache using provided shortcut
• Un- and re-installed video drivers

SMPlayer (0.6.8) is installed on the same machine and displays subtitles without any issue.

Some details:
Windows XP SP3
Radeon HD 4550
VLC 1.1.11

I am open to your suggestions.

do you have tools-> preferences -> enable OSD enabled ?
do you see OSD when you start a movie (like the filename displayed for a few seconds) ?
