Capturing From Hauppauge HD PVR

Postby Kalec » 18 Sep 2011 03:42

My goal is to get VLC to see whatever the cap card is connected to, (currently my Xbox.) I'm not really interested in capturing with VLC, but to get the live view I want, I think I have to do it that way.

VLC recognizes the device under the drop down menu, but it gives me errors every time I try and hit play under "Open Capture Device".

It gives me this error,
"Capture failed:
The capture device "Hauppauge HD PVR Capture Device" does not support the required parameters."

I really want to be able to do this so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
-Kalec

Open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2), then try again. Message dialog should so more info about the issue.

Re: Capturing From Hauppauge HD PVR

Postby VLC_help » 19 Sep 2011 16:15

Issue is
dshow debug: EnumDeviceCaps: input pin media: unsupported format (video R)
dshow debug: EnumDeviceCaps: trying pin Virtual Audio Out
dshow debug: EnumDeviceCaps: input pin media: unsupported format (audio fi)
dshow error: capture device 'Hauppauge HD PVR Capture Device' does not support required parameters !
dshow error: can't open video device
it can be fixed with chroma option, but I have no clue which chromas work with that device (so trial and error time)

Code: Select all

--dshow-chroma=<string> Video input chroma format Force the DirectShow video input to use a specific chroma format (eg. I420 (default), RV24, etc.)
