PLEASE HELP ME!

Any bugs which I hat with 0.8.2test2 are "away". But, I have ONE new problem. On WinXP. My friend has this problem, too. On w2k. He updated from 0.7.2
to 0.8.1 or 0.8.2. I from 0.8.1 to 0.8.2. I updated from 0.7.2 to 0.8.1 without
problems.

PROBLEM:
Doubleklick on file or RMB on file and "load with..." starting VLC, but the file
don't play. Playing over Control-F (->Filerequest) or drag&drop on VLC works!

Uninstall 0.8.1, install 0.8.2. problem
Install 0.8.1 and upgrade to 0.8.2. problem
Copy VLC dir (0.8.2) by side, uninstall 0.8.2, install 0.8.1 to the same dir,
"recopy" 0.8.2 to this dir. problem
Uninstall 0.8.2, install 0.8.1. WORKS

I hear many times about this problem. With any versions of VLC. I don't mean that it
is a bug in VLC (previously), but what is wrong with this many systems?

Nice new features. I have tried out the snapshot feature. Went into preferences than video and set the snapshot directory to desktop. I took a snapshot and it never saves it to my desktop or anywhere for that matter as far as I can tell. All it does is make a tiny version of what you hit snapshot on into the top left.

Any idea how to get it to work?

Cool work, the usebility has raised enorm.
It seems to bee a lot Faster, stable, and in all better.
Problems I found:
(the next are part of the version only)
1. Sound in a MPEG file does not play propperbly, it play only an short than stops, sometimes it play a short again.
If i raise the audiodelay it beginn to play (at this file asyncron, but it can belong to the file).
2. If the Player is allready started and I send a File via dbl click or Contextmenu to vlc it apears in the Playlist, but it started not by auto.
And the Playlist stands at the item before.
3. If I change the settings I need to restart the whole Player before it be used ( at 0.8.1 I need only to restart the current played film)

(the next has apeared at 0.8.1 too)
4. the player has problems with MKV and other containerfiles who contend subtitels,
4.1 at first problems with (html) formated styles. the tags are displayed, too.
4.2 the length of the film is not displayed propperbly. For an example a half hour film, it shows 2 hours and 30 minuts.
4.3 because of that the jump XX time Function with the hotkey does not work. it jumps then to the beginning.
5. If the player is set to on foreground only, changing to fullscreen (often by mouse, but less by hotkey, too) will cause the the interface is not hidden (the interfacewindow is before the video).
6. if the player is minimised when you start a film the videooutput will be at 0px size. (you can change it in all normal ways)

System WinXP, wxwindows interface
Player message logs, System details and sample files are avaleble if ya ask for.

I want to control the color and the strengh of the subtitle char borderline, too. See it as a wishlist.

the default location is the My Pictures folder. If it doesn't work, you should have an error message in the "Messages" window

I resetted all the preferences, even deleted the prefs folder in library.

Feel free to put bugs you encounter on the forum. We will add them to our tracker and work on them then.

BTW. A bugfix-release is scheduled for mid July.

I've encountered a "late picture" issue when playing MKV files with Divx5 video. When playing the video, frames with lots of motion are skipped. The audio plays normally.

The computers on which i've tested it are P4 and AMD Athlon4, with 512 and 256 MB RAM. Both have WinXP installed. VLC versions are 0.8.2test2 and 0.8.2.

The problem doesn't exist in version 0.8.1.
Preferences reset had no effect.
This seems to be a known problem, however i found no bug record regarding this issue.

I hope this will be fixed.
I hope even more that it's just me being stupid...

This means the unsanity software is making the VLC application crash.
Unsanity APE is still a hack. and running on an unstable 10.4.2 Developer software release as well. That's like two unstable elements on top of eachother.

This means the unsanity software is making the VLC application crash.
Unsanity APE is still a hack. and running on an unstable 10.4.2 Developer software release as well. That's like two unstable elements on top of eachother.

I just wanted to post the same. VLC 0.8.2 works fine for me on 10.4.2 8C40.

@ jvh: BTW. You seem to have certain knowledge on programming for Mac OS X. Are you interested in taking part of VLC's future development? It is not as hard as it might seem actually.

After upgrading from 0.8.1 to 0.8.2, I am unable keep VLC open. Within max 8 secs it unexpectedly quits. This happens both when I just open VLC from apps folder, or when i click a file that opens in VLC - it will play a few seconds, then just quit. 0.8.1 worked fine, but reinstalling htat didn't help either...

Restarts, repaired permissions etc no worky.

OSX v 10.4.1, had APE installed but after reading above posts unistalled it to no avail.
