bad display

i'm trying a vlc (1.1.10) released for my distro (puppy) i have just installed (nothing has been installed but vlc) but it doesn't work, the display is very bad:

Looks like you did not compile the needed XCB plug-ins.

this version has not been compiled by me, i will report it thx
this version and a version i 'm trying to compile have the same problem:

That error is due to a bug in Qt4 which Qt has more-or-less refused to fix. So live with it. It has nothing to do with display.
