Conversion problem with a multilanguage (multiaudio) DVD

Postby Bhaal » 01 Sep 2011 12:35

I have a dvd and i want to convert it in avi.
as i understood vlc doesn't allow me to choose wich audio tracks (languages) use for audio.
So i make open dvd with vlc and then i make convert, i choose audio/video format and i save the file but the saved file is only video and doens't have any audio track.
What did i wrong? how can i choose which audio (languages) integrate into the saved (converted) file?
Is possible to convert a multi-audio dvd?

There are much easier tools for DVD -> AVI conversions (like Handbrake 0.9.3). In VLC you can select the audio track with

Code: Select all

--audio-track=<integer> Audio track Stream number of the audio track to use (from 0 to n). --audio-language=<string> Audio language Language of the audio track you want to use (comma separated, two or three letter country code, you may use 'none' to avoid a fallback to another language). --audio-track-id=<integer> Audio track ID Stream ID of the audio track to use.
And if you want to know what part of transcode fails, then open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the transcoding part.
