Command Line Option --dshow-video-input?

Postby bobc02 » 26 Aug 2011 07:13

I am trying to set the video input source that my DVR card uses, it's the composite channel and the value is 1, but vlc is giving an error when I try the following command:

Code: Select all

vlc v4l2:///dev/video0 --server-port 1234 --dshow-video-input 1
The error is:

Code: Select all

VLC media player 1.1.4 The Luggage (revision exported) vlc: unknown option or missing mandatory argument `--dshow-video-input'
The player works if I leave off the --dshow option, but since it's defaulting to value 0 nothing is displayed. vlc works fine if I do Open Capture Device manually and set Input to 1 in the Advanced Options.

Any ideas on how to get --dshow to work? I found the info at http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_command-line_help

Thanks,

--Bob

It should be obvious, but DirectShow options only work with the DirectShow plug-in which only exists on Windows.

OK, so maybe a better question is how do you set the input channel for a Linux environment.

If you feel the need to be rude, understanding of course your superior European heritage, then maybe you shouldn't answer.
