v0.8.2:Streaming from Hauppauge WinTV doesn't work anymore

Postby FrankW » 26 Jun 2005 16:07

If I try to open the direct show device "Hauppauge WinTV capture" VLC crashes.
I can still hear the audio from the TV- tuner.
This crash is new since v0.8.2
Have installed the newest WDM and DirectX Windows XP- drivers.

Let me know if you need more informations.

v0.8.2 - cannot open encoder

Postby streetfox » 26 Jun 2005 16:20

I do experience a similar problem, do you also have this errormessage in your window?

I streamed with mp4v. But now I recognized that also without streaming the directshow does not properly get recognized.

[err]
ffmpeg error: cannot open encoder
stream_out_transcode error: cannot find encoder
[/err]

anyone an idea? v0.8.1 does not have that problem. I am using winXP SP2 and a Pinnacle PCTV Card

No, I didn't get any error message. VLC simply crashes if I try File->Open capture device->OK with an "unknown software exception" (0xc000001d).

hmm... now I specified the additional settings for the TV Card (channel, country, cache and so on) and this made at least the picture coming up without streaming. But as soon as I choose to stream:

mpXv -> cannot find encoder
WMV -> works
DIV -> works

only related to video stream. Audio is ok.

And another Bug: if you have 800x600 resolution in the Window where you can select the streaming protocols, it does not properly display UDP. Only when you enlarge the window.

Have recompiled the complete project with MSVC 6.0.
Now I can open the Hauppauge WinTV without a crash and can view the video locally (with UYVY), but I can't stream this.
Any idea ?

Here is the recompiled version (340k): http://www.wincesoft.de/VLC_082/vlc.exe
And a fixed libvlc.dsp: http://www.wincesoft.de/VLC_082/libvlc.dsp
This was defective in the current vlc-0.8.2.tar.gz- archive.

I am having the same problem with an ATI AIW 9000 and 8.0.2. I can stream audio but not video. I reverted to 8.0.1 and it streams fine again.

I am getting the same error FrankW is getting

ffmpeg error: cannot open encoder

Please let me know if I can help in anyway.

TIA
