During playback of my videos VLC shows green vertical lines. I can see the video behind the lines and the audio is fine but the picture is not watchable. Media Player will play the videos correctly. The video compression is XVID and MP4 that will not play. I am not computer saavy and I am a new user of VLC. Is there a way to correct this? I really like the player. Also, can I burn videos to DVD format with VLC?

Change video ouput in preferences.
