Guide to VLC log messages

I've googled & searched around, but I haven't been able to find a list of the log messages that vlc can elicit, what they mean, and their relative severity. Does such a reference exist?

Often when I playout video with VLC I see messages in the log, but there is no accompanying video or audio quality issues. So I'd like to learn which of these messages may be normal/informational, and which ones may indicate some latent problems. Can anyone offer any pointers or links?

There are way too many messages, and way too much variation from one version to another, that it would be possible to index messages.

Messages are prioritized though: info, errors, warning, debug.
