VLC Read a head Cache

How do I increase VLC read ahead cache, as I want to increase play speed to 1.25, crashes at the moment
when I do so

Tools -> Preferences, (Show settings: All) Input / Codecs -> Access modules, and select the module you use, and change the Caching value in ms, but I would guess it won't help to crashing
