.mkv files hangs for no reason

This is not a problem with VLC per say, but with an active community, I thought wise to ask here.

All of sudden, .mkv files have started hanging on me for no reason. I first used KMPlayer, and then moved to VLC and then moved to GOM player to see if either of players fixed the problem. But it didn't. .mkv just hangs at random parts, sometimes after 5 mins, sometimes after 10.

Any help would be appreciated. I am completely lost.

(I have ffdshow installed.)

I am also facing this same problem all of a sudden. Everything was fine but just after one fine video I opened another and then it seems that it can not open any .mkv videos. I should tell all other video formats excluding .mkv are playing fine.

But then I think I will have to go for a demotion from VLC to Windows Media Player paired with K Lite Codec Pack , at this point of time that is the only option available.

Waiting for a fix soon from VLC Team.
