Audio compression

Hi,

I have a problem with vlc when I use the converter. It is the audio codec settings. After compression I have a video with "Joint Stereo" but I want just "Stereo" not joint. I don't find where I can change this setting in the audio codec section or in the preferences.
So if it is possible and if someone knows the solution it will be cool because vlc is a great player and converter.
