SLEEP MODE after VLC has finished playing the playlist

This is the VLC media player feature request's section of the forums so I would like to request that you change the feature in VLC that stops a computer from dimming the screen and letting the computer go into sleep mode.

Simply change it so that after VLC has played each item on the playlist that this feature that stops my computer from going into sleep mode turns off. Playlist > finished > sleep mode

Or am I able to turn this feature off myself?

If you uncheck Disable Screensaver, the sleep should work.

Doing this did not work. The pc still will not sleep with VLC open weather a movie is playing or not. The pc will go into sleep mode when VLC is not open.

Please tell me how to fix VLC so the pc will go into sleep mode.

AFAIK that is the only component in VLC that disables screensavers. Did you save the change and restart VLC?

Yea it still doesn't work. That box has been un-ticked and VLC still will not let my pc enter sleep mode.

Can this please be incorporated into the next update. A feature that turns off any restrictions to stop the pc from entering sleep mode in a simple tick box option in the preferences menu.

If that one piece of software is not running, the computer will not enter sleep mode.

I meant more detailed report. Like is it related to keybinds, unclosed DirectDraw handle or...

I have no binds, the software is stock. I don't know what directdraw handle is?

If you just start vlc, and don't do anything with it, is the screensaver still disabled?

Sleep# (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepsharp/) will send your computer to sleep after VLC playback, no matter what your screensaver settings are. You just need to have been playing the video for a set amount of time and have not moved the mouse for a set amount of time (by default 10 and 5 minutes respectively).

I'm not sure about DVD playback, but it will work the default settings for any video file/playlist which is at least 10 minutes long.

If you do try it out, let me know how you get on.

Hi,
as a workaround, set your sleep timeout in windows powercfg.cpl and then add following command (via adding network location) as the last item of your playlist:
vlc://quit
