No more chinese subtitle in 1.1.10

Postby superlucker » 24 Jun 2011 03:53

I updated vlc 1.1.10 recently.
I noticed 1.1.10 can't get chinese subtitle working no more.

In old vlc version, set up font and code page will get chinese subtitle working. But in 1.1.10, I changed almost every settings still can't get it work.
Many chinese users has experienced the same problem.

If choose non-chinese font, subtitle showed up, but with invalid character in chinese(It is normal).
If choose chinese font, no subtitle at all, even English character and file name won't showed up. looks like entire subtitle system is broken.(it works fine in old version)

Thanks for reply, where can I find vlc log?

And font name is:
Microsoft YaHei

Actually most system build in(win7) chinese font doesn't work.

However those fonts were working fine in old version.

Got the log
Here is the subtitle related error:
[02660684] freetype spu text debug: Using 微软雅黑 as font from file (null)
[02660684] freetype spu text error: failed to load font file (null)

Every chinese font will result the same error, Is it freetype's problem?
How do avoid it?
