Hi.
I have been tearing my hair out trying to solve a problem with subtitles.
I have the original USA Region 1 DVD diskset for MXC Etrememe Elimination Challenge. With the usual series episodes, are a set of Original Takeshi's Castle Japanese Episodes with English subtitles (original being, of course, in Japanese). Wishing to isolate this stream on it's own, either as a seperate disk or file with subtitles, has proved completely elusive.
I have tried ripping the DVD track using ripping software, but not only is quality poor, but for this particular track, all subtitleing is egnored. Hence, I have resorted to the Convert/Save feature of VLC to save tracks from DVDs. This gives excellent original quality for normal DVDs, if it is instructed to save the original video stream. However, when it comes to the Takeshi's Castle Japanese track, with subtitles, no matter what I try, I cannot get it to produce a file with the subtitles present. I have made sure that when setting to watch the stream as it saves, that subtitles are switched on - still no subtitles are saved. I have tried setting/checking the 'Include Subtitles' selection when setting up the stream, but neither making it DVB Subtitles, or T.40 (sorry if not exact selection option) subtitles as the option, will save the subtitles to the file.
Just what do I do to save the original video (preserving quality) with the subtitles included, even to the extent of burning/making a DVD with only this track (my Ashampoo DVD Burning Studio just Crashes!)?
So grateful for anyones help. Kind regards,
Tim (Nottingham, UK).
