libva openDriver returns -1

Postby voodoosound » 16 Jun 2011 16:36

Hi everyone!

i have the problem that libva is not working properly.
on playing a 1080p movie i get the following error messages

Code: Select all

... [0x95e5f34] main playlist: stopping playback m_el[mi_level] == NULL arrrrrrrrrrrrrg Up cannot escape itself m_el[mi_level] == NULL arrrrrrrrrrrrrg Up cannot escape itself [0x9c33bb4] dts decoder: DTS channels:6 samplerate:48000 bitrate:1536000 libva: libva version 0.31.1 Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0 libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so libva: va_openDriver() returns -1 Stream with high frequencies VQ coding ... is this realted to a poor ati driver or is it a vlc issue?
if its a vlc issue, how can i correct it?

thanks in advance

It's a bug you cannot install it until you get a new driver.
You can receive it from the x-swat team. It is working on my HP625 notebook with ATI 4200.

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
How to get the driver from the AMD website... ...see http://www.dickmcjohnnson.wordpress.com
