Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/vlc sudo apt-get update
Then go to update manager and it should offer you the latest vlc.

As per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... omments/73 it is clear that VLC 1.1.10 will never make it to Ubuntu 11.04.

Thus you'll need to get it from a PPA or compile it yourself or upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10.

so vlc does not support the current ubuntu version for critical security updates ? strange.

It does not work like that.

Ubuntu will (most probably) deliver only the security fix and probably the critical PulseAudio fix in Ubuntu 11.04. They won't provide the entire VLC 1.1.10 update though, until Ubuntu 11.10.

I have the exact same problem as rumpumpel1, is there anything I can do to help the dev team? I'm quite the novice however. In short I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 with no idea about anything and between 200 and 300 msec audio delay on everything. I can't be very precise because for the life of me I can't get it to synch... but it's in that range somewhere.

PulseAudio output is broken beyond repair in VLC 1.1.x. I wouldn't expect any fix until VLC 1.2.

Hi,

Had the audio sync issues with the 1.1.10 VLC with Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS .

I removed pulse-audio and installed alsa as a default and got sync back.

Note that i saw the sync issues with some other players as well such as Kaffiene etc. any how now all is good see here how to:

Cheers,

Roi
