You are doing it correctly (but it isn't doing what you seek). So I am guessing you want to keep the size of video window same, but show certain part of video scaled to fill the video window?

Sorry,Im obviously not explaining myself very well.
When I press Z I want the screen size ( for instance full screen ) to remain the same but for the image to be enlarged as we move closer in due to the zooming.
To me thats what zoom means.....get closer..........as you do in other players like zoomplayer.

Hope you can now help me?

Thanks for your patience.

Use o and alt+o to do what you want.

I hope this is helpful cause i just activated a first time account here to answer your Q. I was just trying figure out the same as you and kept getting the same info over and over. It turns out what you gotta do is go to Tools - > Effects etc. -> Geometry And there you can use the dah dah dah daaha 'MAGNIFICATION' feature.

So I guess we needed to specify Magnification not Zoom? I don't know. And I don't know if there is another way to go about it or not, perhaps some hotkeys or something. I would like to be about to zoom in/out on select areas of the screen like you would in, say a photo editor...anyone know how to do this (if poss.)? If so, lemm kno. :)

Hope I helped Citizen. :P

I wanna point out that o /+o to zoom-in is not practical at all !

When you press o the full screen picture become normal frame size 1920,1080 become > 720x480 after which you are allowed to zoom-in the problem occur when you use a remote you are forced to press "Alt+o" countless times to first go back to 1920,1080, and then more to actually begin the real zoom-in effect.

This need to be fixed asap

Maybe you want to use magnify filter?
