Videos won't play past first chapter

Certain MKV files that I've been trying to play will restart to the beginning of the video after the first chapter, and play without sound. No matter how hard I try, I can't even get the video to play anything after the first chapter. Whenever I click around on the time bar, set it to a specific time, or try to just play another chapter, the video restarts. What do I do?
