vlc 1.2.0 visualization problem + temp fix

Postby dumbo4711 » 11 May 2011 17:43

hi
i found another small bug in latest vlc 1.2.0 version
and a way to fix it (temporary)

when using visualizations audio playback will stutter (this doesn't happen in 1.1.9)
to fix it i have to use "goom" effect which doesn't create audio problems
then i can switch to other effects without stutters

when press stop and play stutters will appear again
however pausing an audio track makes no problems

hope this helps again

projectM runs without stutters from the beginning

but switching from projectM to other effects except goom will create stutters again

switching from other effects to projectM takes several seconds (audio will stop until switch to projectM is complete)
and when switching from other effects to projectM vlc will show a 2nd effect window with projectM (Open GL output)
the old effect window freezes and shows a still image

when projetM is selected at first it runs in normal vlc window without problems
(full screen mode doesn't work with projectM)

btw:
i have a small suggestion for the effects in full screen mode
i noticed that effects run only in 4:3

how about support for 16:10 and 16:9 when using full screen ?
if auto detect of screen resolution is to difficult to implement
how about a small button in config options for "full screen visualization resolution" 4:3, 16:9 , 16:10 , custom)
would be nice (at least for scope and spectrum)

EDIT: ahhh when changing aspect ratio i can use 16:10 for effects
so forget my suggestion 8)

found a new bug :-)

wav and mp3 visualisation is ok when using goom and then change to other effect

but for flac files audio doesn't stutter but
visualisations are too slow like in vlc 1.1.x
using goom and then change effect won't help for flac files
