screen-mouse-image does not display the image

Postby zozizozu » 10 May 2011 13:05

Hi, i've seach a lot here but did not understand why it's not working :

Code: Select all

vlc screen:// :screen-mouse-image=/usr/share/gnome-control-center/pixmaps/mouse-cursor-normal-large.png :screen-width=500 :screen-height=300
Of course image exists and can be read by vlc ( i've tried with the same img as a logo and it works).
I've tried with --screen-mouse-image instead of :screen-mouse-image as shown in examples here, but it returns :
vlc: unknown option or missing mandatory argument `--screen-mouse-image=/usr/share/gnome-control-center/pixmaps/mouse-cursor-normal-large.png'
I've also tried with --mouse-hide-timeout=100000 with no success ...

I'm using vlc 1.1.9, ubuntu 10.04 tls, but, because i didn't found any example using : (not --), i'm not sure it's linux only ...

Thanks for any ideas

As said, this option does not exist.

Sorry, but this option is describe and does not generate an error .
Do you mean that it doesn't exist anymore ?
Well so, is there a way to display the mouse cursor while running "vlc screen://" ?

Hi again, i've just compiled vlc to have a brand new "VLC media player 1.2.0-git Twoflower (revision 1.1.0-pre1-4373-g3ae42e7)", enabling all i can when ./configure (by the way, it's fabulous, you've made a wonderfull job on config+wiki..., it took me,a simple user, 20mn to compile and run vlc ).
Well, saving the conf in vlcrc show me that the option "screen-mouse-image" was still present...

Is it possible that there's no way to show the mouse cursor while playing th screen ?
If no, my last option is to move a logo or a text while playing, it sounds heavy isn't it ?

--screen-mouse-image is not supported on the Linux/XCB port. I find the concept dumb, compared to querying the actual pointer from X. Either way, this is not implemented.
