Convert mp4 file to smaller - No sound

Postby Toxidious » 03 Apr 2011 23:45

Hi.

VLC 1.1.8 windows xp

I have a mp4 file where codec Details is as follows:

Code: Select all

Stram 0 Type: Sound Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) Language: English Channels: Stereo Sample rate: 48000 Hz Stream 1 Type: Videp Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) Language: English Resolution: 640x480 Frame rate: 29.970029
This is a video file that I wish to email. So I want to get it smaller.

It works fine as long as I set "keep audio". But any attempt to reduce to a specific bit rate lead to a output file that has no audio.

I've also tried to use another containerformat as output (and differend mixes of container/video/audio formats), but still no sound.

Any idea what I can do to not loose sound while reduce it's quality?

Bump...

Still no idea what it can be?

By the way. Not every input file get VLC behaving this way.

Also another thing I didn't mentioned (probably not important) is that source file was created by Sony Vegas 9.0.

You should give us more details about each step you are doing, post a messages log and also a short sample file.

Hi.

Sorry to forget about this.

I figured it out (I think) by setting the mp3 rate to a number that is a multiple of 16 (128, 256, etc).

Because the time that has past, I cannot be sure that it's the same problem this is the solution of :?
