Synchronaztion Profiles

Postby Fishbass13 » 23 Apr 2011 20:23

Hi All-

New to the forum- did a search and didn't find any specific answer but nonetheless hope you'll forgive if this has been covered elsewhere.

I suppose this is actually a two-part question-
I'm using VLC to send video to a monitor in a separate room and broadcasting the audio via Airfoil to an Apple Airport unit. I was told when I set this up that there would be a synchronization issue of about 2 seconds and when I went into the Tools/Track Synchronization menu and played around for a bit, I managed to get it pretty close. But I noticed that it doesn't save this into a profile or a Preferences Memory and, while I don't mind doing this everytime I want to watch a DVD, my girlfriend is somewhat less technical than I and it will be a real problem for her.
I also went into the Preferences settings and played with the Audio Desynchrinization tool; but this didn't seem to have the same effect as the Track Synchronization.
So Question one; are these two settings the same thing, where one can be stored as a permanent memory preference?
And Question two; if not, then is there another way to accomplish this?

I'm using the Windows XP platform but I don't think this is specific to that, more of a general issue which is why I'm posting it here.

Appreciate any help you can provide. In the meantime, I'll continue experimenting....

Thx

It is totally possible to have a remembered sync offset. I have done this on accident and cant figure out how to reset it to the default. All I really know is that I had adjusted it to -2.350 sec and that worked reat for the file i was watching and now i have to reset it to 0.000 each time I watch a different file. I am sorry i cant tell you how i did this other than to tell you that i synced it up using 3 methods selecting the audio video sync tab from the tools menu. selecting from the right click, and lastly using the show advanced features button on the controller. i think it might have something to do with the controller button that appears near the play pause stop next previous buttons on the bottom of the screen. these appear to sometimes be glitchy in my experience. Anyone know how I did this/ how i can undo it please speak up.

hope this helps you
