Problem with newer versions of VLC

Postby tp3813 » 20 Apr 2011 20:13

Have noticed with the latest editions of VLC player although the picture quality is as good as ever, there are serious problems when you try to advance videos, when moving forward or backwards to different part of some videos, very often the picture is completely broken up with pixels and sometimes takes several seconds before the picture settles down again.
Very irritating!

Is there is some way to fix it, in settings, etc?

If not think I will go back to the older versions which worked more smoothly.

This happens because VLC doesn't seek to keyframes. With certain container formats seeking is better but with others it might cause issues like that.

I have the same problem but the main problem is when streaming.

In the past I would use SOPCAST with VLC to steam live event but now everything keeps going all blocky.

I hardly use VLC any more unless it's something that won't play on anything else.
