arabic subtitles

Even after using arabic (ISO 8859-6) and arabic ((Windows 1256) decoders, the VLC Media Player could not display the arabic subtitles correctly. What else can one do?

Make sure you use anything except .ASS subtitles. The libass decoder does not handle arabic ligatures correctly. We do not know if/when the libass project will be able to address that issue.

I posted a thread last month about this issue and one of the developers told me that he'll assist libass developers

I hope that goes fast
