Kaspersky reporting trojan in version 1.1.8

Postby cwdavi1 » 24 Mar 2011 23:10

I assume this is a false positive but if so it's the first false positive I've had from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010. It's reporting:

3/25/2011 4:59:18 AM Detected: Trojan.Win32.TDSS.ccpy http://cdnetworks-kr-1.dl.sourceforge.n ... -win32.exe Firefox

My anti-virus Zone alarm software picked up the same Trojan in version 1.1.8. I noticed the download came from a mirrored site.

AVG IS 2011 is also picking it up as Win32.TDSS.ccpy, a known Trojan.

Only 2/41 and Kaspersky does not report anything anymore. Maybe they have updated the AV bases in the meanwhile ?
Notice that nothing is detected by AVG, Avast and NOD32 either.

Kaspersky has confirmed that this was a false positive. In any case, you can install VLC from the .ZIP download instead.

Actually AVG did detect the VLC installer as a trojan on my system this morning.

While watching a show with VLC, the little update box popped up, and I of course clicked it like I always do. But the installer froze up about halfway through, and after restarting my computer and trying to install it 4 more times, AVG pops up telling me that vlc-1.18-win32.exe contains a trojan.

I've never before had this much trouble trying to install VLC, but it's really starting to annoy me. Fortunately I still had an older installer for v1.15 laying around. Hope this stupidity is fixed soon...
