I posted a question earlier regarding my attempt to convert .avi files to something that I can play on my Blu-Ray DVD player (it will not play .avi files).
When I used VLC to convert, the quality was greatly degraded and there was no audio!
So I kept playing and experimenting and, lo and behold, all I had to do was RENAME the .avi file as a .mpeg file and it played on my DVD player with no problem and no loss of quality. Essentially, it is the EXACT same file as the .avi file -- but named with a new extension.
I thought this was weird and I wanted to share it in the event someone runs into a similar problem some day.
If anyone has any idea why this oddball solution worked, I'd love to know why.
Thanks,
JPE
