I have tired various different files and it will not play any of them. I admit I do not know the encoding and am unsure how to check.
It plays mkv files perfectly.
I have reinstalled and it still has this problem, can someone give me a bit of help please?

ok, now I wake up this morning and it is all good and plays various AVI files.
